ADVENTURES ON THE WESTERN STAGE is a fast-paced comedy set on the western vaudeville stage in the early days of the 20th century. The brother-sister act of Winston and Vidalia Grumble find themselves in a heap of trouble one night when all the other acts on the bill suddenly turn up missing or, for various reasons, are unable to go on. Winston and Vidalia rely on their quick wits, instincts, and years of stage experience to perform all the acts themselves. The Grumbles sing, they dance, tell jokes, juggle, do ventriloquism, and even read minds as they go to heroic lengths to ensure that the show goes on!
HISTORY MYSTERY TRAIN
Three veteran Vigilantes reunite to create a little leap into the past when television was as young as we were and every local TV station beamed its own version of Howdy Doody or Captain Kangaroo. This particular small town station offers the History Mystery Train with a conductor who welcomes you to the baggage crew.
The show is on the skids, however, and not even the Spud Queen’s Potato Ballet can raise the ratings. Integral to the show’s salvation are a hopped-up cowboy star, a drowsy sidekick, Horsefly Hannah (the scourge of Montana) and a seed potato. The audience joins in as all peanut galleries must of course, and there’s lots of singing and carrying on.
The semi-vast cast of characters are created by seasoned actors Rhonda Smith, John Hosking, and alumni Thomas Q. Morris who also writes and directs. Morris is well known for his previous VTC productions “WUF” and “The Clark and Lewis Show” and does not disappoint with this sketch comedy marvel!
RADIO MONTANA
It’s a cold snowy night in Montana but a warm glow is radiating over the airwaves from KUKU Radio.
The “Crackpot Laureate of Montana” has come to visit and sing a few songs. The area’s news central is keeping us up-to-date on the storm outside and inside the studio. There’s young love under the pressure of the future and old friends are wrangling the winds of the past and present.
It’s a beautiful land we live in, full of good hearts and good times, but still life is never as easy as a song. Thanks to “Radio Montana”, Greg Owens’ characters and the Vigilante Theatre Co., by the end of the evening we all feel a little bit warmer.
This is the third original play that author composer Greg Owens has written for the Vigilantes and they’ve all been uniquely different. “Radio Montana” provides plenty of fun and good tunes to create a great evening for all. Bring us into your theater or event and enjoy looking in on our live studio. Dial us up soon.
