[See also ARCHIVES: FACES FROM THE PAST] Go BullFrogs! As an audience
member you are cordially invited to an historic
event in honor of Central High School. Your emcees
will be the bottled water empire heiress, Sheila
Mackey, and the bingo night staple, Sister
Theodotius. The evening's special guest is the
distinguished Dr. Mephistopheles Bisteidegeiger and
his drop of water from one of the moons of Mars.
The greatest and most famous detective in
literature will also be making an appearance. This
unveiling should provide enough finger-pointing
who-done-it to keep everyone on the edge of their
seats. When you get all the clues in line don't
forget to yell "BINGO!" Grab a paddle and pack your
buckskin undies... One hundred years ago this day,
in the very room where you now dine... Murder on the Riviera takes
place aboard a yacht on the French Riviera. On
board are the owners of Mt. Fuji, Fiji Island and
the Brooklyn Bridge. The Greek tycoon Aristopolous
wants to buy their property. As a guest on his
luxurious yacht, you attend a resplendent gathering
and high-powered dinner meeting replete with a
gondola ride from the shore. As you ruminate on
your options of a sumptuous meal, all is well,
until, unexpectedly, certain mutinous characters
aboard Aristopolous' yacht become suspect of murder
in the moonlight. You as well, could be a suspect
and are confined to the yacht until the culprit is
discovered and the investigation is complete.
Uncover the clues as you ruminate and chew. Is
there a link to be found in the mysterious crew? A
four time widow, and itinerant waiter, an Italian
opera star... and who is that strange little, weird
little man? Murder is coming to Survivor
Island. Or is it? That is the question audience and
cast members alike will attempt to answer during
"Mystery on Survivor Island." The latest crew of
survivors has entered its final days on the island,
located conveniently in the Rocky Mountains of
Montana. Yet suddenly, one of the four finalists is
missing and foul play is suspected. The host of the
show and the remaining three contestants are all
suspects in the money-making murder scheme to get a
million dollars and a car. Mystery Manor takes us back to
the 1800's, to the desolate moors of southern
England where you've all been invited to a dinner
party at Mulrooney Hall. As you're announced by
Baines, the butler, your hosts, Charles and
Victoria, proclaim that tonight at eleven o'clock
London time, they will legally inherit Mulrooney
Hall. Such were the terms of old Lord Phinneas
Mulrooney's Last Will and Testament. But all is not
as it seems, as the minutes tick toward the golden
hour: what is Victoria's obsession with plum
pudding? Who keeps locking Charles in the wine
cellar? Why does the deranged cook talk to the
salad? What makes the butler so strange? Who are
these people really? The stage is set for an
evening of curious occurrences and surprises, in
which you yourself may become the heir of Mulrooney
Hall! Mystery and suspense abounds, complete with a
seance! Wuf! is a wild and wacky feature
length Shaggy dog story, starring Montana's
favorite variety pack, the Vigilantes! Wuf! leaves
no punch line un-punched. Tree-huggers, rich
yuppies, rednecks and mythical beasts of the deep
dark woods all get bit, but it's all in the spirit
of hilarity. Nobody is taking sides, they're only
holding their sides and laughing out loud at this
smart, silly yarn about the USDA's fictional
"cowboy re-introduction program."
The Vigilantes bring the
spectators into the story as they celebrate
"Betsy's" birthday with a room full of invited
guests - you, the audience! "Betsy" and her friends
just happen to be amazingly talented-amateur-lounge
singers, and a surprise appearance by a "famous"
country western star musically rounds out an
evening of rollicking fun for all ages.
Adversity in Verseville Poetry comes alive for audiences
of all ages in Adversity in Verseville, an original
musical play set in a town just down the road where
everything rhymes - for no reason. Written by Brian
Massman of the Vigilante Players, Verseville is a
playful romp through word-sport of all kinds.
Delighting audiences as a main stage show,
Verseville lives on to entertain and educate
would-be poets, thinkers and dreamers in our
schools. Sherlock...Is That You?! A musical mystery of the great
detective Sherlock Holmes, in which the identity of
all characters is in question. FTV: The Fishing Channel This live comedy review from the
trout-crazed mind of humorist Greg Keeler revolves
around the theme of a 24-hour all-fish network.
From the soap opera, "All My Salmon" to wacky talk
shows and silly songs, the Vigilantes will lure
laughs from one and all. On the life of Senator Burton K.
Wheeler Aliens and Canadians A satirical musical comedy
looking at characters involved in modern Montana
society: A real estate developer, the spiritual
leader of a cult, a logger, and a real estate
agent. The play takes place in the Lewis and Clark
Caverns, where the characters meet aliens from
outer space, who have taken over Canada but are now
moving into the USA via Montana, because it is the
state most like Canada. Landmark Less than 100 years ago over 80%
of the people in our nation were directly involved
in agriculture. Today the figure is near 3%.
However, it is still the largest industry in our
home state of Montana. And though the natural joys
and difficulties are still present in farming and
ranching, the country life just ain't what it used
to be. Theatrical material on this new kind of life
is not exactly abundant. That seems to be where we
come in. The Vigilante Theatre Co. believes that
our theatre should relate to the lives of the
people where we live. So we have searched and
researched for this material, written some
ourselves, and put it all together. We hope that
you enjoy it. This historical, humorous hop
through time covers Montana's history from the
dinosaurs to the homesteaders. "Rewinding Montana"
is a witty production of the history of the
northwestern plains and mountains. With Crazy Horse
and a starry-eyed character named Muffy as your
guides, you experience everything from a
Duck-billed dinosaur singing the blues, Custer
killed by a Winnebago, a Lewis & Company's
rendition of the "Lewis & Clark Rag" . . . and
lots more zany stuff. Wonderful western humor
wrapped up in good old fun poking, garnished with
original songs. Palmer has stuffed his play with
nearly every form of comic device known; verbal
fencing and physical antics expand this farcical
fantasy like a balloon. It is fun, meant to tickle
the funnybone and stuffed to the point of bursting
- with nothing A serious drama involving spouse
abuse in a rural community. A play about the Anaconda
Company, which was researched through the oral
histories in Helena. The play quotes from the oral
histories in between three scenes from different
places in time. One scene is when the company threw
the annual picnic. The second is when the union
held the picnic. The third is the day the plant
shut down. Spoken from the hearts of the
farmers and ranchers themselves, these stories,
songs and poems tell of laughter, tears, challenges
and triumphs of life in the rural
West. A collection of literature and
music reflecting rural life in Montana and the
region. Four homeless people - a High
School runaway, a "Bag Lady", a Veteran who is a
street musician, and a Hobo - spend Christmas Eve
in a commercial center of our society - The
Mall. A fabulously candid conglomerate
of whimsically sharp wit, wonderfully timeless
perceptions combined with the charm and chuckles
of Mark Twain A potpourri of dramatic scenes,
each enacted in a different style which is
affectionately spoofed. Lighthearted and playful in
spirit, it presents a mundane situation in ways
that different playwrights in different times might
have presented the situation. For bookings or further information please contact us: Vigilante Theatre Company |
