Mystery on Survivor Island
(Bruce Hurlbut) 2001-2003

Murder is coming to Survivor Island. Or is it? That is the question audience and cast members alike will attempt to answer during "Mystery on Survivor Island." The latest crew of survivors has entered its final days on the island, located conveniently in the Rocky Mountains of Montana. Mystery Manor
(Bruce Hurlbut) 1998/99

Mystery Manor takes us back to the 1800's, to the desolate moors of southern England where you've all been invited to a dinner party at Mulrooney Hall. As you're announced by Baines, the butler, your hosts, Charles and Victoria, proclaim that tonight at eleven o'clock London time, they will legally inherit Mulrooney Hall. Such were the terms of old Lord Phinneas Mulrooney's Last Will and Testament. But all is not as it seems, as the minutes tick toward the golden hour: what is Victoria's obsession with plum pudding? Who keeps locking Charles in the wine cellar? Why does the deranged cook talk to the salad? What makes the butler so strange? Who are these people really? The stage is set for an evening of curious occurrences and surprises, in which you yourself may become the heir of Mulrooney Hall! Mystery and suspense abounds, complete with a seance!

WUF!
(Greg Keeler & Thomas Q. Morris) 1997/98

Wuf! is a wild and wacky feature length Shaggy dog story, starring Montana's favorite variety pack, the Vigilantes! Wuf! leaves no punch line un-punched. Tree-huggers, rich yuppies, rednecks and mythical beasts of the deep dark woods all get bit, but it's all in the spirit of hilarity. Nobody is taking sides, they're only holding their sides and laughing out loud at this smart, silly yarn about the USDA's fictional "cowboy re-introduction program."

Betsy's Birthday Bash

The Vigilantes bring the spectators into the story as they celebrate "Betsy's" birthday with a room full of invited guests - you, the audience! The play takes place in the Lewis and Clark Caverns, where the characters meet aliens from outer space, who have taken over Canada but are now moving into the USA via Montana, because it is the state most like Canada.

Landmark

Less than 100 years ago over 80% of the people in our nation were directly involved in agriculture. Today the figure is near 3%. However, it is still the largest industry in our home state of Montana. And though the natural joys and difficulties are still present in farming and ranching, the country life just ain't what it used to be. Theatrical material on this new kind of life is not exactly abundant. That seems to be where we come in. The Vigilante Theatre Co. believes that our theatre should relate to the lives of the people where we live. So we have searched and researched for this material, written some ourselves, and put it all together. We hope that you enjoy it.

Rewinding Montana
(Greg Keeler & VTC) 1988/89
At the Museum of the Rockies 2003

This historical, humorous hop through time covers Montana's history from the dinosaurs to the homesteaders. "Rewinding Montana" is a witty production of the history of the northwestern plains and mountains. With Crazy Horse and a starry-eyed character named Muffy as your guides, you experience everything from a Duck-billed dinosaur singing the blues, Custer killed by a Winnebago, a Lewis & Company's rendition of the "Lewis & Clark Rag" . . . and lots more zany stuff. Wonderful western humor wrapped up in good old fun poking, garnished with original songs.
