FAQ: Tell Me More About Interactive Dinner Theatre

Q: What kind of venue is interactive dinner theatre right for?

Corporate banquets, team building meetings, community gatherings, fund-raising events, even private parties.

Q: What makes interactive dinner theatre so special?

There are three things everyone enjoys: eating, drinking and being entertained. They're all rolled into one in a professionally staged dinner theatre event. But the final ingredient for a special entertainment experience is the freshness and fun that audience interaction brings to make every show a hilariously unique occasion. Audiences walk away feeling like they have received a gift: a wonderful evening of laughter and dining that was created just for them.

Q: Is interaction a bit intrusive?

The word is friendly. The Vigilantes have mastered the art of audience interaction to make it warm, fun, and most of all: Easy! Everyone involved has a good time, including the actors in the company.

Q: How does the interaction happen?

All audience members wear name-tags, so the actors, in character, can work their magic: drawing the group into the show with natural spontaneity. Prior to a dinner theater production, hosts fill out a simple fact sheet, enabling the characters to drop insider details that give each unique audience a stake in the action. The sensitivity and infectious charm of this company never fails to result in a warm, cohesive event where everyone in the room seems to be on a first name basis by the end of the show.

Q: How does the event work in with dinner?

The scenes of these two-act plays are timed between meal courses to make a seamless evening of entertainment: Not too long, not too short. Just right. Generally, the action takes place in this order: Guests are seated and the first course or salad is served. When the salad plates are cleared the 40-minute first act begins. During the intermission the main course is served and eaten. After dessert and coffee appear, the 20-minute second act concludes the show. The show adapts well to a simple coffee format if dinner is not in the plan.

Q: What are the plays like?

Written by Montana-born playwright and composer, Bruce Hurlbut, these musical comic mysteries are delightfully diabolical, but suitable for all audiences. Hurlbut, whose musical and comedic gifts have delighted audiences from Broadwater to Broadway, has infused over thirty boundlessly original works with humor, original music and clever dialogue. Chapeau and Water Bingo! are two of his finest efforts, offering fast paced "who-dunnit" storylines that are crisp, engaging, and unabashedly enjoyable. With a precision-tuned theatrical team mixing up the ingredients, all it takes is an audience to create a wonderful evening! Click here for song samples of some of our shows, past and present.
