MURDER AT THE LONEWOLF RANCH

...they took the art
into their own hands

Look! Up in Montana! It's an Ice-Breaker, It's a Team-Builder!

Nope.

Well, actually, it works as an ice-breaker and a team-builder, only, not so torturously boring!

It's something fresh and new:

The Hottest Entertainment Around!

Get on a first-name basis. Eat, drink, laugh, and enjoy the only musical theatre event that can make a fun-filled evening out of a stuffy meeting, and make a genius of the person who booked the entertainment.

Choose from three interactive musical mystery plays, all seamlessly presented by talent that's as vast, unspoiled and refreshing as the state where it was born!

The Hardest Working Theatre Company West o' the Mississippi

The Vigilante Theatre Company is composed of four multi-talented performing arts professionals who deliver original musical theatre productions to communities large and small, all across the Northwest. Equally beloved by folks from the farm to the Fortune 500, they're portable, they're affordable, and they never fail to leave an audience smiling.

Interactive Dinner Theatre

 Irresistably engaging, Interactive Dinner Theatre...
...has become a Vigilante specialty and for good reason!

The players have perfected the formula for balancing audience interaction with straightforward musical entertainment that's guaranteed to keep a crowd delightfully engaged. Each fun evening is a unique event: unpredictable, yet brilliantly polished.

You decide the menu, from prime rib to spaghetti, or even just dessert and coffee. You choose the performance space: from a four-star restaurant to a grade school multi purpose room (or anywhere in between)*.

Regardless of the location, the Vigilantes consistently deliver an atmosphere of seamlessly crafted professionalism with just the right tickle of spontaneity. Peruse this season's gourmet menu of dinner theatre selections and serve a refreshing variety of entertainment for your fundraiser, corporate function or community event!

*All the Vigilantes need in order to transform a room into a dinner theater event is a small eight-by-twelve platform (yes, a sheet of plywood, a half-dozen cinder blocks and a piece of carpet could suffice), an electrical outlet and a step ladder. No kidding!

Original Full-Stage Productions

Full-stage productions featuring the gifts of Montana's finest playwrights...
...come alive with all the magic of the stage, but are designed to make life easy for presenters large and small.

The Vigilantes provide and man their own lights and sound, so all you need to provide is a comfortable room where an audience can sit back and enjoy. An auditorium, of course, is perfect, but the alert and adaptable Vigilantes can make it all happen in just about any room where you can set up a bunch of folding chairs and a twenty-by-twenty platform!* For nearly twenty-one years (that's two percent of a millennium!) the Vigilantes have brought quality, laugh-out-loud entertainment to audiences throughout the Northwest.

*Band risers or plywood on cinder blocks can fit the bill in a pinch, as long as there is at least eight feet of vertical clearance above the platform. A couple of plug-ins on separate breakers and a step ladder complete our technical requirements for main-stage shows.

A Brief History

History? Well, Montana was a great, big state and...

...it was about time somebody took the arts into their own hands! Seeing a need for a kind of theatre that spoke directly to the people of the Northwest, the Vigilante Players, Inc. was founded at Western College in Dillon, MT in 1981. At the invitation of the Department of Media and Theatre Arts at Montana State University, The Vigilante Players came to Bozeman in 1983.

Now in its 22nd season, this professional touring repertory company is widely recognized for presenting quality, affordable theatre wherever people gather. The company's original scripts continue to focus on the people of the Northwest - past, present and future - offering us a fresh look at ourselves and the choices that become the fabric of our society. With a carefully chosen combination of comedy and drama, Vigilante material is always unique.

The Vigilantes believe that quality theatre should be available to anyone, no matter where they choose to live, so Vigilante shows are aimed to provide the fullest theatrical experience with minimal technical requirements. An array of indoor environments (from elegant auditoriums to school cafeterias) seat eager Vigilante audiences at productions that delight and entertain all ages. With diverse theatrical backgrounds - from classical to contemporary, dinner theatre to children's theatre, film and television - the actors share a love for the people and places of the Northwest and a commitment to creating quality theatre for all to enjoy. They have performed in over 150 communities in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Nevada. After 21 years of good times, hard work and enthusiastic public support, what began as a wild idea continues to be a dramatic success! Since 1993, the company has been headquartered in Bozeman's Emerson Cultural Center, 111 South Grand Avenue, Suite 201.

People Will Talk...

...In fact, they tend to send letters like these:

"Thank you for sending such a wonderful group of players to share "Betsy's Birthday Bash" with us. In a town of 10,000 people it is sometimes difficult to get people to attend these types of events, but I am happy to say that both years we have sold out performances."
-Kathy Taggart, Park County Arts Council

"Our banquet has grown from 78 people in 1995 to over 200 in 1999. I believe that this growth is due, in part, to the quality entertainment that the Vigilantes provide."
-Christine J. Meland, Empire Building Materials, Inc.

"The personal touch of using the names of local towns and landmarks and involving the audience by calling them by their first names pulled those attending right into the production. It made the evening extremely enjoyable for everyone."
-Arlene Weber, Human Resources Manager, Holnam, Inc.

"It was the easiest money-maker I have ever had to plan. The tickets sold themselves, and working with the Vigilante Theatre Company was a wonderful experience."
-Connie J. Logan, Anaconda Chamber of Commerce
